Residence at Wychwood Park

This early board and batten residence is located on the western edge of the Wychwood Park Community in Toronto. In 2014, design options were developed to introduce additional ground floor area. In keeping with the scale and character of the house four interventions were developed. The front porch form was retained and reconstructed as an extension of the main living area.
The main entrance was shifted to a new west side addition. The front walkway from Tyrell runs past the side of the former front porch to a new stair and porch landing. Inside the vestibule, the existing west window was removed to provide an interior doorway to the open living area with a new west window retaining natural light and view to this side of the property. The back porch footprint was extended to provide a garden room set two steps down from the kitchen as part of the north facing terrace. The kitchen added a cantilevered window bay on the west wall overlooking the side garden.
