Todmorden Mills

In 2007, GRA collaborated with Wendy Shearer Landscape Architect on site improvements at the Todmorden Mills Museum and Arts Centre. The work included separating vehicular and pedestrian circulation, replacing an unsafe 1950s bridge, constructing an accessible ramp between precinct levels, and expanding parking.
GRA’s contributions encompassed hard landscaping design, ramp construction, restoration of bridge abutments and piers, contract administration, and resetting the historic brick roadway. The firm also prepared a Heritage Impact Assessment for Preservation Services.
Subsequently, GRA was retained to conduct condition assessments of all site buildings—including the Brewery, Helliwell House, Regency Cottage, and Papermill Theatre—leading to staged masonry conservation projects at the Papermill Theatre, including restoration of its 100‑foot brick chimney.
