Forster House

Client: Town of Richmond Hill

Project Completion: 2012

Constructed circa 1930, the Forster House and Barns form part of the 85‑acre Phyllis Rawlinson Park in Richmond Hill. The property was gifted to the Town in the late 1990s by the Rawlinson estate, with the stipulation that it be used for recreational purposes.
In 2004, George Robb Architect was engaged to restore, repair, and adapt the house and barns for heritage interpretation and to accommodate permanent park staff offices. The scope of work included structural reinforcement, asbestos abatement, restoration of interior finishes, accessibility upgrades, new mechanical and electrical systems, and window and door restoration. Complementary landscape improvements were designed by Schollen and Company. The property is municipally designated under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act.
