Egan Funeral Home

Client: Egan Funeral Homes

Project Completion: May 2014

The Egan Funeral Home relocated in 1954 from the second floor from the family hardware store to a dedicated building with an attached residence on the south side of town. Subsequent expansions included a second-floor apartment in 1971 and in 1988 a new funeral chapel, a three-car garage with a second floor reception space.
In 2006, design options were explored culminating in a 2010 building program that reconfigured visitation rooms at the ground floor, introduced a new Queen Street entry, renewed two planning spaces, and added an elevator to the  suite of second-floor spaces. The upper level provides a library, two large visitation rooms, washrooms, enlarged casket room, and an extended lounge and server. A new audio-visual system was incorporated throughout. The roofline was redesigned to a cottage profile with dormer towers at the library and visitation rooms.
