YMCA Cedar Glen Masterplan
The YMCA of the Greater Toronto Area acquired Cedar Glen from the United Church of Canada, which had originally developed the site as a retreat centre. A major redevelopment program was approved by King Township in 2016, expanding the building area from 4,955 m² to 37,925 m².
Prior to approval, several projects were completed, including new bridge crossings over Cold Creek Valley, construction of an accessible pool and change facility, a greenhouse to support the organic garden program, and replacement cabins for the Cedar Banks Leadership Program. In 2019, the lower level of the Main Lodge was converted into a child care centre.
The redevelopment will proceed in phases over 10–12 years at a cost of $50–60 million. The program emphasizes environmental stewardship, integrating valley and tableland facilities, enhancing interpretive landscapes, and introducing new energy infrastructure to support education and sustainability initiatives.
