Bayview Glen

Client: Bayview Glen Church

Bayview Glen Church relocated in 1976 from Avenue Road and Dupont Street in Toronto to its current site on Steeles Avenue West in Thornhill, with an 18,000 square foot addition in 1982 providing meeting facilities and space for a future gymnasium and banquet hall. In 1996, George Robb Architect was retained to assess the congregation’s evolving needs, evaluate the earlier expansion against current standards, and explore opportunities for growth. The review made recommendations for a new upper entry, improved circulation, expanded program space, relocate the Day Care Centre to a new addition, and rationalize office and storage facilities. The study concluded in late 1996, and by 1997 the church partnered with the National Office of the Christian and Missionary Alliance to complete the office component for interim use. In 2002, Bayview Glen permanently occupied the office space and completed the remaining unoccupied space.
