Barrie Condominiums

Located at the southwest corner of Collier and Mulcaster Streets, 36 Mulcaster was identified in the City of Barrie’s Share the Vision redevelopment initiative (2006) as one of four downtown parcels for renewal. The site features a park across from City Hall, with mature trees and a monument marking Barrie’s first fire hall, demolished in 1978. It also contains the Armoury, built in 1888–89 and designated under the Ontario Heritage Act, which houses offices and a military museum.
The proposal preserves the parkland and Armoury while integrating them into the new development. The building is designed to wrap around the west and north sides of the Armoury, set back to create a courtyard with grade access to both the recreational complex and the Armoury. Parking is provided at grade on the west side and across three underground levels, accommodating 70–75 vehicles.
