BOSCH REXROTH CANADA

Bosch Rexroth Canada is a Welland, Ontario based manufacturer of hydraulic components and assemblies. The company started life as Basic Structural Steel Fabricators, but with developed sophisticated machining capabilities and an alliance with G.L. Rexroth GmbH of Germany, it has become a major supplier in the hydraulics industry. In 1994, George Robb Architect was retained to undertake an addition to extend the second floor of the plant's office area to accommodate an expanding engineering department. In 1996, the plant itself was expanded to increase the size of the Assembly Shop and rationalize shipping and receiving with a new loading dock.

In 1998, having acquired property to the north and east, Basic requested that we undertake a master plan study for their enlarged site. The result was a proposal to erect a 40,000 square foot manufacturing facility with three distinct fabrication/assemblies areas supported by a "special" process section providing sandblasting, pickling and painting. Attached to this pre-engineered structure is a four storey, 27,000 square foot staff facility that contains shower and locker facilities, cafeteria, meeting/seminar rooms and the ever-expanding engineering offices.

The former shop was altered to house an expanded service department and bonded warehouse. Once Phase I, described above was complete and occupied, Phase II commenced to provide an improved public entrance to the campus and new executive offices. The original shop building and offices are connected to the new shop and staff facilities with an elevated walkway. The project was completed in twenty-five months and officially opened October 21, 2000
